T&T serves in two ongoing programs within correctional facilities in the midlands. We have had to temporarily suspend these programs due to restrictions on visitors during COVID-19. We hope and pray we can resume Jumpstart and the T&T Course as soon as possible!
A Christian non-profit organization based in Spartanburg, focused on helping returning citizens during their transition out of incarceration.
Includes a 40-week discipleship course based on Rick Warren’s book, “The Purpose Driven Life,” and is currently offered in 16 different institutions across SC.
Jumpstart sessions are led by inmates who are distinguished Jumpstart graduates themselves.
Jumpstart volunteers are not required to lead anything; they are participants in small-group discussions.
T&T partners with the Jumpstart program offered at Kirkland Correctional Institution as part of CIU’s Prison Initiative.
T&T Volunteers at Kirkland work with inmates who are CIU students going through the Jumpstart program.
Jumpstart programs are also available at several other facilities (Men’s and Women’s) in the Columbia area.
The T&T Course
The T&T team has developed a unique curriculum to fit the need for a medium-length (12-week) pre-release course that also serves as the initial phase of a mentorship program. Topics covered in this course include identity, community, finances & budgeting, habits & addictions, relationships, job preparation, and much more. The course is currently being taught at Broad River (a level 3 facility) and Manning (a level 1 facility).
(Please see our volunteer page for more info on serving in either of these programs)
